Getting to know me

I saw this fun meme at my friend, Sue's blog this week. It looks like a fun one to do. I know, I know, I should probably post something a bit more interesting, but the kids and I are back to day-to-day stuff: school, chores, church, cooking, etc. Nothing interesting worth posting about. We have about two more weeks of school left before we end our school year. Then we'll be at the pool every day in town, going on some hikes around our town (not too far since as of yesterday gas was $4.45 for Reg. Unleaded here in our town), picnics, and general lazing around the house. Tune in later this week for a fun craft I'm whipping up.

The Unnamed Meme

In your entire life, have you ever...

gone on a blind date? yes, and it worked out pretty well, I dated the guy for a few months, he was nice but jealousy got the better of him

skipped school? only once, it was Senior Skip day (sorry dad - I forgot to tell you)

watched someone die? not that I'm aware of

been to Canada? last fall my mother in law took us to Toronto, lovely drive, Canada seems to be a nice place

been to Mexico? when I was in the Army and stationed at Ft Huachuca in Arizona, Dave and I drove down to Nogales one day. kind of a scary place, but we bought some cool Mexican blankets, and a butterfly knife. We kept walking back to our car every 15 minutes because we were afraid someone was going to steal it (or the tires).

been to Florida? Been to Florida a few times, but really only to go to see Mickey. If we go again, it will be to go to the beach instead. I'm tired of the crowds and standing in lines to go on rides. The last time I was in FL, Dave and I flew to Ft Lauderdale to go on a cruise. But we never saw anything, or went to the beach. We flew in the day before the cruise, got in late that night, then left early the next day to catch the shuttle to the cruise ship.

been on a plane? way too many times to count

been lost? well I think that's a subjective question... being "lost" may be someone's else's interpretation of being on an "adventure" (at least that's what I keep telling myself), but don't tell my husband that when he mentions Winnemucca.

been on the opposite side of the country? several times. I have driven across the country and back again (literally) twice. Once I drove from Maryland to Texas all by myself at 7.5 months pregnant. Not a very smart idea looking back on it.

gone to Washington, DC? When we were stationed at Ft Meade, in Maryland, DC was a short drive away. So whenever family members came to visit us, we always went to DC, and to the Maryland shore. Loved everything about the Smithsonian museums. I'd like to go there again sometime.

swam in the ocean? yes. CA coast, OR coast, Maryland coast, Hawaiian coast, Caribbean off of Jamaica

had your booze taken away by the cops? (hiccup...) no, just kidding!!!

lettered in a high school sport? what's that? again... just kidding. i didn't play any sports when i was in high school. i was a lazy bum.

cried yourself to sleep? unfortunately yes

played cops and robbers? when I was little

played dolls? Jennifer and I played dolls when we were little, we each had a Barbie, and they each had "dates" or boyfriends, which were stuffed animals. We were poor, we didn't have Ken dolls. I know... so sad. :-)

recently colored with crayons? nope. my kids are growing out of that crayon stage.

sang Karaoke? okay, another embarrassing question. At my dad's company summer picnic many, many years ago, Jen and I sang Karaoke, and it was really bad. I still cringe to this day when I think about it. Never, ever sing John Denver songs when you can't sing. Period. Nor should one sing "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" when one doesn't know the words. And can't read fast enough to read the lines as they come rolling down the karaoke screen.

paid for a meal with coins only? um, maybe at McDonald's.

done something you told yourself you wouldn't?
Oh, let's not even think about that one.

cheated on an exam? no, i think the guilt would have been to much for me to bare, so I never even considered it

Made prank phone calls? again... the guilt thing... so the answer is no

laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose? oh yes, dr pepper does not feel so good coming out of the nose

caught a snowflake on your tongue?
isn't that fun? we should do that more as adults, find enjoyment in the simpler, quiet things. Alas - no snow falls where I live here in CA though.

danced in the rain? danced, no. played, yes.

written a letter to Santa Claus? oh yes. and one year he brought me everything I asked for, that sneaky Santa!

been kissed under the mistletoe? not recently

watched the sunrise with someone you care about? again, not recently. hubby is not exactly a morning person, of course neither am I really.

been arrested? no

blown bubbles? yes, both with bubble gum, and with the liquid bubble stuff

gone ice-skating? yes. lived in Alaska. I remember when I was in grade school, some girl at school gave me an old pair of her skates. I would carry them to school every day, and before school, during lunch time, and sometimes after school I would skate. We had two ice skating rinks at our school.

been skinny dipping outdoors? only in our hot tub

had a nickname? no, Dawn is a short enough name

been to Africa? I would love to go on Safari sometime, but hubby thinks that is a dumb way to spend a vacation.

eaten cookies for dinner? cake, brownies, and ice cream, but I can't recall eating cookies for dinner.

been on TV? no

stolen any traffic signs? (well there was this one time).... no, just kidding!!!

been in a car accident? yes. when I was 3 I think. Somebody broadsided our car. I was standing up in the backseat. Then I went through the windshield. Have some scars on my face. Please, please, please, make your children wear their seatbelts or stay in their carseats!!! You may be the safest driver out there, but you never know about everybody else out there.
Been in a couple of other one's too, but that one was the worst.

What is your....

mother's name? I'm not sure she would approve of me saying her name on my blog.

favorite drink? coffee and iced tea

favorite alcohol? Margaritas

birthplace? small town in Idaho

favorite vacation spot? Oregon Coast

favorite salad dressing?
Dorothy Lynch

favorite pie? Coconut Cream

favorite number? 3

favorite movie? There are so many... LOTR films, Wizard of Oz, The Matrix, E.T., The Family Man

favorite food? lasagna

favorite day of the week? Monday

I so enjoyed reading your answers to this meme...I must do this one too, you find out so much about a person through these:-) Hmmmm, you said "not yet" to a tattoo...that mean you're thinking of getting one?? hehe I got one on my ankle and just love it:-) Omigosh, I couldn't believe it when you said you'd gone through the windshield when you were 3 years old due to an accident...you're darn lucky to be alive!!! Yes, seatbelts are SO important!!! xoxo
