I do not own Photoshop, much to my chagrin. It's this funny thing about being really expensive that sort of gets in the way of buying it. After reading an article today about how to improve your photo taking skills, I thought why couldn't I apply those same skills to an after the fact photo I took and see what kind of results I could get. Photography is a little hobby of mine and I'm always striving to take a better picture. But now that I've found a way to "muck" with my pictures, and see how easy it is, my pictures will never be the same. I have changed a few things on the next photo to improve colors, tinting, and cropping that didn't quite come across how my eyes saw them the first time around.

New and improved photo. Notice attention to cropping, the color of the old tree in front, the color of the trees to the left and on the side of the mountain to the right of the falls. Note the rock wall itself, and the colors of browns that have come through. The shadows in the grass below don't look so boring and plain, but rather muted and blended. And finally the color of the sky looks more like the "real thing" like it did in person.
Let me know your opinions and thoughts.

Oh wow, I can really see the difference and you're right, the improved photo is so much better than the original!! My oldest brother is a professional photographer and he swears by Photoshop...I would love to get it one day but it's sooo expensive! xoxo
I change every one of my photos that go on my blog. I mostly mess with cropping, fill light and shadow. Its so fun isn't it?
